This document provides a brief reminder of key approaches and phrases that clinicians can use to support shared decision making.

This two-page document was developed by Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the Health Foundation, Newcastle University, Cardiff & Vale University Health Board and Cardiff University as part of the Health Foundation’s MAGIC programme. It sets out key approaches that clinicians should use to support shared decision making and some helpful phrases and ideas for stimulating discussion with patients about the decision to be made.
