This paper produced by Yang Tian and colleagues at the King’s Fund explores the system-wide costs of falls in older people in Torbay. It uses Torbay’s unique patient-level linked data set to explore the cost of the care pathway for older people admitted to hospital as a result of a fall by tracking their care costs in the 12 months before and after their fall.

It aims to use the experience of Torbay’s patients to provide much-needed comparative information as a benchmark for others as they seek to develop more integrated approaches to care.
