From judgement to improvement: lessons for the future

Author: Prof Peter Lachman

In this editorial published in the International Journal of Quality in Healthcare, Prof Peter Lachman discusses two papers addressing the question of how we could develop a system of quality assurance with continual improvement embedded in the culture and system of care delivery. He highlights that as we move into a situation of crisis management with the increased demand on our services, rapid improvement methodology can play an important role in ensuring that the safety and quality of the service are enhanced and that we use this as an opportunity to assess how best to apply the quality management system.
