This toolkit from the British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition is aimed at those involved in commissioning services to help health and care organisations to develop and implement a variety of safe approaches to nutritional care.
This toolkit helps organisations implement safety around four main tenets:
- malnutrition must be actively identified through screening and assessment
- malnourished individuals and those at risk of malnutrition must have appropriate care pathways
- frontline staff in all care settings must receive appropriate training on the importance of good nutritional care
- organisations must have management structures in place to ensure best nutritional practice
The toolkit includes grids for assessing current provision of services and includes service priorities, suggested quality indicators and a quality framework for nutrition.
