The IHI Severe Sepsis Bundles contain elements drawn from the International Guidelines for Management of Severe Sepsis and represent packages of care to be delivered for all patients presenting with severe sepsis or septic shock.

They include a 3 hour resuscitation bundle for patient presenting with severe sepsis and a 6 hour Septic Shock bundle. The intention in applying the care bundle is to perform all indicated tasks 100 percent of the time within the first 6 hours of identification of severe sepsis. The bundles also contain tasks for other supportive therapy as per the updated 2012 guidelines.
