The second page of this newsletter sets out a case study about how GP practices in Staffordshire are achieving genuine and meaningful patient and public engagement via social media following a dedicated programme to drive up online interactions.

The article describes some of the ways practices have been using social media, including:

  • posting ‘did not attend’ data to spark debates about non-attendance
  • promoting clinics and community events
  • providing short videos from their GPS on a range of health topics such as asthma and stroke avoidance.

The subsequent article explores some of the barriers to the adoption of social media and how these can be overcome.
